I see you!!! LOL ! Welcome to Art Thursdays... I thought i'd take a day each week and show you what i'm working on or maybe something i've made in the past. Just something artsy.....I come from the school of thought that art.. be it drawing or painting or some other endeavor is a skill not a talent.. it can be learned! Now you might have a talent that makes the whole process easier for you but in the end anyone can learn to do it.
I first sketched these fish in my little composition book /sketch book several years ago. I LOVE them. I love how i can make them look in different directions.. and if you look at them long enough (and with 39 fish on this painting.. i've had time enough to look at them lol) they each kinda have their own personality..
That's the problem though... I love these fish so much that i got scared that i would mess up the rest of painting.. and that is the perfect recipe for procrastination ... I've been dabbling at this painting for years... yes YEARS... it sits on my easel.. So here recently i decided to tackle that fear..take the bull by the horns so to speak.. There are so many paintings swimming around in my head that want to come to life but i have to get this one off my easel first.. So i've started doing the rocks.. And............ i like them so things are moving forward.. and thats a good direction to be going..
Its a BIG painting... much too big for one of my first attempts at painting.. that could be a reason why its so daunting too... But when somebody gifts you a 30"x40 canvas.. you don't say no.. or at least i don't.. lol Just think how much easier those smaller canvases are going to seem... lol
I hope you'll keep coming back for Art Thursday's. I'm hoping to do it every week. If you look under the header picture i've created some Pages to put my Art.. I haven't posted any pictures in them yet but i will.. I'm not sure if thats how your supposed to use Pages... but i'll see if it works for what i have in mind. Take care! Do something creative. Be Brave... step out of your comfort zone..... Push paint around... or wherever your creativeness takes you. See you next week! Hugs! deb
The fish eye painting is awesome! It reminds me of Escher's drawings. It's fun to look at all the fish and to see all the personalities.
ReplyDeleteI loved your post Deb. Especially that art can be learned and doesn't have to be a natural gift, which I think many painters do have a gift, but the rest of us can learn with lots of practice. Grandma Moses always inspired me-as I think she taught herself to paint in her later years.
ReplyDeleteThat is a big painting and sometimes we just have to dive right in. I have several fiber projects that I need to get back to and finish. Loving your fish
I love that you will be sharing an Art Thursday too
I looked for information on how to do the Pages feature. Managed to get them up under my heading but then could not see how to write a page post. If I understand it-I think you have to write a blog post-and then go back into layout and put the blog link in there. Hoping someone can share how this is done.
Happy Thursday
Love your fish. You are so creative.
ReplyDeleteOhh this is awesome. I really love everything about it. The eyes are perfect and the colors wonderful. Come by to see my Friday Face Off. Have a great day today.
ReplyDeleteYour fish are incredible and you are FEARLESS. I am loving this. I think you are very brave with that huge canvas. LOVE it, because I only paint backgrounds.
