I take it easy on my chef.........  he gets to make it in the microwave...lol .. But its delish... Sadly he used up all the mushrooms so i didn't get a picture of those but they are in there.. Eggwhites, spinach, onion, mushrooms with a little salsa on top.. and hubby has a little cheese.. Good start to the day! I NEVER cook breakfast so if my chef didn't cook it  we would have cereal or oatmeal every day..lol ! Either that or IHOP.. Hugs! deb

T stands for Rain!!!

Yes you heard me right... we had RAIN!!

Rain that left PUDDLES!!If you lived in dry west central Texas and hadn't see rain in going on 6 months you'd be excited too!!! LOL!

                    My ticket to the Party!!!

This week has been full of crafting...

Taking apart old buttons so i can use in a craft....this involved a vise... a dremel... and a sharp blade.......eeek!

Writing on my Haunted House Book... a chapter and a half!!!

Took time to make a crane... the middle has to be expanded but i'm keeping it folded up to send through the mail... Great tutorial HERE

       Made my granddaughter some necklaces...

She is very into Paw Patrol cartoons and Blue's Clues if you know those... She's gonna LOVE it!

And finally a stroll along the Concho River....

It truly is the gem of this little town...

Isn't that an unique shape for an art museum? I hope you all have had a good week too... I'll be around to visit!! Happy T day! Hugs! deb

7up Cake turned Diet Sprite Cake....

Its Food Wednesday! Over there at Hummingbird Studio at the Lake... and i baked a cake!!!

I did substitute Diet Sprite for the called for 7up...

Wouldn't you know it i didn't have enough regular flour... I could do it all in Cake Flour but ofcourse the recipe didn't call for that.. I ended up using 2 cups of regular flour and one cup of Cake Flour...

And the recipe didn't call for it but i'm thinking ..Sprite... lemon lime flavor so i added some lime zest...Blame it on all the baking shows i watch..lol  Either thats a good idea or people will be picking lime zest out of their teeth...

The Sprite made everything bubble up nicely...

In the oven we go! Fingers crossed!

I had such a TERRIBLE time getting the cake out of the pan... Seriously began thinking this was going to be a disaster food post... But whew... it finally popped out with only a little boo boo...

But look what got left in the pan.... ?? It was thick and gooey and sweet... I don't know why it did that.. I'm sure thats what made it difficult to get out.. Maybe soda cakes do that?

I made the glaze that was a part of the recipe... But let me say 2 Tbs of lemon extract was NOT going to mix up 1 cup of powdered sugar.. Unless ya'all know something i don't... So i added a little water .. and ended up adding too much water .. If you look close you can see most of the glaze ran off and is lying on the bottom of the plate..

Also the glaze was lumpy... perhaps i should have put it through a strainer.. ahhhh hindsight.. But...

                            As you can tell....

None of the mishaps affected the taste of the cake in my professional opinion... Hubs and i each had s slice and passed it on to some family to finish the rest! Yum! Happy Food Wednesday! Hugs! deb

T stands for a Question......

Hello Elizabethan T partiers! Have you had a good week??  There is a questions that begs to be asked as Spring is coming to an end and Summer is looming large in the distance... or at least here in TX... And that question is.....

If you have a glass of ice and Tea and you leave it sitting out in the sun and the ice melts.. Will it ever , ever, ever overflow the glass, cup or mug that you have it in??

I had cause to wonder this one day this past week as we had just left a restaurant with a 'to go' cup of ice and Tea and had to stop and run in the store for something.. The cup of Tea was full, full AND full of ice.. and i didn't want a mess in the truck...

After a little thought we decided no it would not overflow.. We're we right?  You know i had to google it right? Now if you want,  go leave a comment with your answer.... no peeking at other answers...lol then come back and read the answer...

The Answer.... "Ice takes up more space than water (because ice expands). So when the ice melts it shrinks and fits into the space equal to the volume of the water it displaced'.... So NO your wonderful glass of Tea will not overflow . Might taste a little watered down but not overflow... This is a very important thing for us Tpartiers to know going into Summer... Ha!  Thanks for stopping by... I've posted quite a bit this week so if you like you can go down the rabbit hole and  'See a tour of my Craftroom'   or   'Visit the Carnival'   or   'See what Crafty Project' i'm working on    or  See what i learned new this week on' Curious Fridays  ' Happy happy T day! Hugs! deb

P.S. Thank you to everyone who 'followed' me this last week . I appreciate it very much!

HOME..........

There are two more rooms in the house to show you... The 2nd bath and Hubby's Office... Not much to look at.. a bathroom and a room with a desk.. lol But , i have been working outside in the yard, before noon in the morning and again around 7pm when the heat and sun are bearable... Above are the rocks we hauled from a friend's ranch... Lots of plans for them and plans to get more rock..

This is what i worked on yesterday... Lots of figuring out what rock goes where..  Then i have to dig them down a little to help them stand upright.. Dig up that grass and weeds that are trying to grow.. Lay weedcloth and we haven't decided on rock or mulch on top.. Mulch would be easier to handle and plant in and less expensive but i'm not convinced mulch wouldn't just blow away around here.. Most people around here seem to use rock.. Maybe for good reason..

Taking it all the way around to the front door.. The rocks get smaller as you get closer to the front door. I want to get some store bought stepping stones to set the bench on so it sits level..

This is right by the front door.. From this area up to the bench stays in shade all day. I hope to have fun with shade loving plants that will come back every year.. I'm thinking hosta... fern.. there's a faucet nearby so i can easily water things here.. But this section we have to put up some gutter because when it does rain(which feels like never right now) Alot of water collects here..

While i was out there the sun was setting...

And the moon was rising.........beautiful time to be outside..

Send Rain..... The rancher friend of ours says he's giving it until June... No rain and he has to start selling off his cattle and buffalo and goats etc... Just can't afford to keep feeding them.. As it is now he's out there feeding them hay and feed every day... There just no food out in the fields.. So if you have an over abundance of rain please send it our way! Hope your having a beautiful weekend! Happy Easter to those who celebrate. Hugs! deb

Curious Fridays

Hubby made sure i learned something new this week.... lol  I had a class on how to pull huge nails out of boards... First you take the claw hammer and pull the nail upright... then you pound it back in the wood.. When you 've done all the nails in piece of wood you flip it over... and use a crowbar/nailpuller to pull out the nail and Ta Daaa you have an almost new piece of wood to use.. And i got to practice it over and over and over and..... lol Did you learn anything new this week? Hugs! deb

Art Thursdays!

This is a WIP or Work In Progress.......  I have held onto these plastic blocks going on 10 years or better.. dragging them with me place to place...They were part of some packaging in something we bought.. Can't even remember what it was anymore. But i thought i could make something with them....   Its  now or never! So first i painted them with gesso... Just helps everything stick better i think......

I cut the shape of the block out of card stock .. I needed to block one side so i can stick something in those little holes..... I just glued them on.. worked great!

Next i had to audition colors of paint to match the scrapbook paper i wanted to use... Third one down won..... blackcherry...

Then i gilded the edges in gold............

I sandpapered a few rough spots off the wood letters.......

Getting my pedestals in order... a few of them were wobbly...  I need to cut off maybe an inch... they are just too tall for me... Then its time for stain.. I have a hard time painting over wood.... I just like the stain look...

No finished piece here to show you... Hopefully next week.... Until then.. can you work out what its going to say??? Hope your having a wonderfully Artsy Thursday... If your looking for more art head over to Kathy's blog and check out her watercoloring this week!! Hugs! deb
